Trade unions have historically led the fight for equality and justice in the workplace. Today, gender equality faces new hurdles. There is a growing global backlash against women’s rights. Conservative governments and movements are opposing gender policies. Workplace harassment, pay gaps, and barriers to women’s leadership still exist. Trade unions must defend their progress, maintain their role, and build new alliances and strategies to advance gender equality, both in workplaces and within unions.
Now more than ever, trade union leaders are crucial in defending gender equality and promoting women’s rights at work. The Trade Union Gender Academy is a transformative program empowering trade union officials, women leaders, and equality advocates to confront current challenges and create meaningful change.
The Trade Union Gender Academy is designed to help union leaders, activists, and equality advocates meet these challenges. Together, we will share ideas, exchange experiences, strengthen skills, craft collective strategies, and develop tools to realize gender equality in workplaces and society.
Through online modules, plenary sessions, interactive workshops, and collaborative activities, participants will enhance their leadership and negotiation skills, integrating gender equality into social dialogue and collective bargaining, and applying practical tools to make workplaces safer, fairer, and more inclusive for women.
The program covers essential topics such as pay equity, workplace violence and harassment, occupational health and safety, just transitions, and inclusive leadership, all aligned with European and ILO international standards.
