This online course has been designed for State officials who draft treaty specific reports under the nine core United Nations human rights treaties.

It provides concise information about the United Nations human rights system and detailed information on the treaty reporting process, including procedures and requirements. It includes guidance on the preparation of reports at national level including the importance of institutionalizing existing inter-ministerial structures and processes into so-called National Mechanisms on Reporting and Follow-up (NMRFs). It also highlights the role of other stakeholders, the United Nations system, National Human Rights Institutions and civil society in the reporting process.

The online training is part of a comprehensive training package on human rights treaty reporting, which is developed by the Treaty Body Capacity Building Programme pursuant to General Assembly resolution 68/26
